Marks & Spencer plc is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to evolve its Payments Platform, powering secure online payments across M&S digital channels. You will collaborate with product teams, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver scalable payment capabilities that drive online growth.

You’ll design and implement resilient backend services, APIs, and integrations for millions of customer payment journeys each year, while shaping technical direction and ensuring performance, security, and cost

Qualifications

• Senior backend software engineer with enterprise-scale experience.
• Strong Java engineering expertise and API development experience.
• Experience with payments, ecommerce, or highly transactional systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve payment services that enable seamless transactions across M&S platforms.
• Develop resilient backend services, APIs, and integrations to support millions of payments yearly.
• Own features end-to-end, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Shape the technical direction of the Payments platform with performance, security, and cost in mind.
• Champion engineering excellence with clean, well-tested code and best practices.
• Drive observability, monitoring, and resilience across services.
