Wise is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in London who will own large-scale backend projects in a compliance-focused environment. You will shape the technical roadmap, design robust services, and integrate with risk and verification systems to support Wise's global platform.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, emphasise clean, testable code, and drive performance improvements while ensuring regulatory alignment and customer impact.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with Java 8+ and Spring framework.
• Experience architecting and building highly scalable microservices.
• Familiar with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and data systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap for designated areas with focus on reliability and security.
• Design and implement robust backend systems with clean APIs.
• Integrate with risk and compliance systems to ensure Wise remains compliant.
• Lead cross-team initiatives and mentor engineers on best practices.
