Job summary

Wise Platform team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own and shape KYC onboarding APIs for partners in London. You’ll work in an autonomous cross-functional team, guiding API design, reliability, and security while shaping the platform’s strategic direction.

You’ll collaborate with product management, analytics, and compliance, mentor engineers, and deliver high-quality services that power cross-border payments for partners like Google and Agoda.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Java or JVM language with Spring.
• Experience building/operating microservices and event-driven architecture.
• Hands-on with Kafka or similar messaging systems.
• Proficiency with relational and non-relational databases.
• Product-minded with data-driven roadmaps.
• Experience leading cross-team initiatives.
• Excellent communication to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to guide debates to clear decisions.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and build public-facing APIs for Wise Platform and partners.
• Own and drive technical roadmaps across your domain, addressing debt, reliability, scalability and security.
• Architect robust microservices using event-driven design patterns.
• Key influencer in product roadmapping and strategy sessions with product management and cross-functional teams.
• Lead impactful problems within your team and beyond to unlock new features for partners.
• Mentor and influence engineers and leads through code reviews and best practices.
