Affil is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (International) to lead backend systems for global payments. This remote UK role involves ownership from design through production, ensuring reliability, security and scalable architecture across international markets.

You will collaborate with product, design, and analytics teams, drive quarterly goals, and mentor peers while delivering high-quality, observable systems in a remote-first environment. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Ability to define a technical plan for large features with clean, extensible design.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team and lead engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product management, design and analytics across the lifecycle.
• Identify and solve project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Support operations and availability of team artifacts and on-call efforts.
• Set or improve code review and design standards across teams.
