Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a senior backend/platform engineer to own identity, authentication, and authorization workloads. You will shape the auth platform, design credentials for agents, and drive secure, scalable multi-region services across Anthropic’s enterprise products.

You will collaborate with product, security, and infra teams, owning migrations and ensuring reliability in high-traffic environments. A strong background in OAuth/OIDC/SAML/SCIM and policy engines is essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating backend or platform systems at scale
• Experience with identity, authentication, authorization, or security-adjacent infrastructure
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, JWTs and token exchange
• Experience with workload identity federation and policy engines such as Cedar or OPA
• Comfort owning large migrations in live, high-traffic systems
• Reliability and security; design for on-call and failure modes
• Product-focused approach; documentation and self-service as part of deliverables

Responsibilities

• Own critical, high-traffic systems end-to-end from design through rollout, operations, and iteration
• Set technical direction for identity and access across Anthropic's platforms
• Collaborate with product, security, and infrastructure teams
• Design credentials for agents and long-running autonomous workloads
• Ensure low latency, security guarantees, and multi-region resilience
