Job summary

Scale AI is seeking a senior engineer to help design and build core identity systems, focusing on authentication, authorization, and governance for enterprise-scale deployments.

You will work on SSO, MFA, and federated identity solutions, while implementing policy-driven access controls and alignment with industry standards. The role offers exposure to cutting-edge AI platforms and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-time engineering experience in infrastructure and identity systems.
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi) expertise.
• Hands-on with OpenFGA, Authzed, Cedar, Topaz, or similar authorization frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of Zanzibar-based ReBAC models, relationship tuples, and access control evaluation.
• Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and JWT; experience with IdP solutions like EntraID/Okta.
• Distributed systems experience and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Proven track record of owning engineering projects and communicating with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Drive design and implementation of identity infrastructure across enterprise systems.
• Build software for authentication mechanisms (SSO, MFA, federated identity).
• Build authorization mechanisms (ReBAC, ABAC, RBAC).
• Develop identity governance policies aligned with security standards and regulations.
• Present technical information to teams and stakeholders with guidance on identity management.
