Job summary

Scale is building leading AI systems and is seeking an experienced Identity Engineer to design and implement secure authentication and authorization across enterprise systems.

You will work with SSO, MFA, SAML, OAuth, OIDC, ReBAC, ABAC and RBAC models, and shape governance policies to meet standards like NIST and SOC2. If you have cloud and distributed-systems expertise, join us in London for a pivotal role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-time engineering experience, post-graduation with specialities in infrastructure and identity systems.
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi) and microservice deployment best practices.
• Hands-on experience with OpenFGA, Authzed, Cedar, Topaz, or similar authorization frameworks at scale.
• Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and JWT; experience with IdP solutions like EntraID, Okta.
• Experience with distributed systems and public cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Independent ownership of engineering projects; strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive the design and implementation of our identity infrastructure to ensure secure authentication and authorization across enterprise systems.
• Build software for authentication mechanisms such as SSO, MFA, and federated identity (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect).
• Build software for authorization mechanisms such as ReBAC, ABAC, RBAC.
• Build software-defined identity governance policies to ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
• Present technical information to teams and stakeholders, providing guidance on identity management.
