Job summary

Camunda is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend, to own automated reliability testing and chaos engineering at Camunda 8. You’ll break things in controlled environments to harden our platform, guide product direction, and learn new technologies with a collaborative team.

We value curiosity, autonomous problem solving, and user-focused reliability across Java, Go, Kubernetes, Helm, and Grafana. This fully remote, globally distributed role invites you to shape scalable infrastructure

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering (Java).
• Proven drive to experiment, learn new tech, and conduct automated reliability and chaos testing in distributed environments.
• Deep enthusiasm for improving performance and fault-tolerance in production systems.
• Autonomous, pragmatic problem-solving skills with an ability to guide and influence others.
• Willingness and ability to use Camunda products and approach reliability from a user’s perspective.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and execute automated chaos experiments and reliability tests.
• Investigate root causes and debug potential failures or performance regressions.
• Improve load testing, chaos engineering and observability infrastructure.
• Introduce new tooling for reliability testing and drive measurable improvements.
• Collaborate with QA and engineering, sharing learnings and influencing roadmaps.
• Champion pragmatic, autonomous software design across Kubernetes, Helm, Grafana, Java, and Go.
