Job summary

Prismatic Ltd. in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Avionics Design Engineer/Team Lead to oversee the development and integration of avionics for the High-Altitude Pseudo-Satellite (HAPS) programme.

This role focuses on delivering lightweight, reliable avionics hardware for stratospheric autonomous platforms in a mission-critical aerospace/defence environment. You will lead design, verification, and integration across PDUs/PMUs, flight computers, sensors and data interfaces while ensuring

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronics or Electronics/EE related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering avionics hardware for aerospace/defence/high-reliability platforms.
• Strong knowledge of mixed-signal electronics.
• Embedded hardware (MCUs, FPGAs).
• Power systems and avionics buses (CAN, RS-485, Ethernet).
• Experience with Altium Designer and LTspice.
• Knowledge of weight, thermal management & power optimization in high-altitude/harsh environments.
• Desirable: UAV/UAS/HAPS background; DO-254; MOSA; UK security clearance eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, verification, and integration of avionics hardware systems.
• Oversee PCB layout, component selection, and supplier engagement.
• Line-manage avionics hardware engineers and mentor.
• Manage resourcing, recruitment, and upskilling to meet project needs.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and safety requirements.
• Lead design reviews (PDR/CDR) and hardware acceptance.
• Collaborate with systems, software and airframe teams.
• Support airworthiness submissions and hazard/reliability analyses.
• Interface with internal customers and project managers.
