Summary

Freedom is seeking a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) responsible for executing construction and asset replacement projects on 11kV - 132kV distribution networks. The role involves operational, technical, and safety duties related to construction, maintenance, and commissioning of projects. The SAP will play a key role in ensuring teams work safely and that new or modified electrical apparatus is fit for purpose upon energisation or re-energisation. The role requires leadership, teamwork, sound technical knowledge, a positive safety culture, and strong technical awareness.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Organising and executing HV switching, isolation, earthing, and safety documentation duties on HV networks up to 11kV, 33kV, and 132kV, following safety rules and procedures.
2. Preparing switching programmes and system alteration forms.
3. Executing operational schedules accurately and issuing safety documents to construction teams.
4. Supporting construction teams with technical knowledge, including HV cable spiking and pressure testing of plant before energisation.
5. Ensuring safety from the system and fostering a positive working culture focused on health and safety, quality, and team development.
6. Commissioning and operating electrical plant and equipment within substations.
7. Maintaining accurate records of completed works.

Qualifications and experience required:

1. Technical support skills for construction teams to ensure standards and safety.
2. Extensive experience in Power Distribution, ideally within a Distribution Network Owner environment at 11kV or above.
3. SSEN DNO Authorisation – Up to 33kV Full SFT.
4. Current Senior Authorised Person certificate on a Distribution Network Owner System.
5. HNC in Electrical Engineering - Power Distribution (preferred).
6. Safety qualifications such as IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS, or equivalent.
