Job summary

Howett Thorpe is seeking a Senior Audit Manager to take ownership of a diverse client portfolio within an established practice. You will lead complex audit assignments, manage client relationships, and contribute to business development and team development within the department.

The role focuses on hands-on audit work, mentoring the team, and driving improvements across the audit function, working closely with Partners and senior colleagues to enhance service delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience leading audit assignments and managing client relationships.
• Strong UK audit experience within practice is essential.
• Ability to mentor and develop junior staff while maintaining high technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of audit clients across sectors.
• Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion.
• Act as senior point of contact for clients and build strong relationships.
• Review audit files and ensure high technical quality.
• Manage budgets, billing and deadlines for assignments.
• Identify opportunities to expand services within client relationships.
• Mentor and support junior auditors and trainees.
• Contribute to department process improvements and training.
