Job summary

Grant Thornton UK LLP is seeking an experienced Audit professional to hold overall ownership for a portfolio of complex or high-risk engagements, reporting to the Engagement Leader or Partner. You will set the audit strategy and act as the senior escalation point on technical and risk matters.

You will lead recruitment and development of managers, manage profitability, and build senior client relationships while seeking opportunities to expand services.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified with substantial post-qualification experience in audit.
• Proven experience managing a portfolio and developing junior team members.
• Track record of contributing to business development is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Holds overall ownership for a portfolio of complex or higher risk audit engagements, reporting to the Engagement Leader or Partner.
• Sets the audit strategy for engagements, exercising significant professional judgement on technically complex areas.
• Acts as the senior escalation point for the audit team on technical, client and risk matters, consulting with Partners as needed.
• Has overall accountability for portfolio profitability, WIP and billing, and manages resourcing decisions across multiple engagements.
• Leads on recruitment, coaching and development of Managers and Assistant Managers, and participates in performance management.
• Owns senior client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and identifying opportunities to expand services across the client relationship.
• Plays a visible role in business development, including leading on proposals, pitches and networking to grow the practice.
• Reviews and signs off on the quality of audit files ahead of Partner review.
• Keeps clients informed of new standards and regulatory changes and advises on implications for their business.
• Champions the firm’s risk management and quality standards across the team.
• Maintains and grows a network across the firm to identify opportunities and prevent duplication of effort.
• Acts with integrity and in line with our organisational values.
