Job summary

Howett-Thorpe Recruitment Consultants Limited is seeking an experienced Audit Manager (or ambitious Assistant Manager) to lead a growing audit team and manage a varied portfolio of clients in a hands-off role focused on planning, reviewing and delivering high-quality audits.

You will oversee audits from planning through completion, review work, manage budgets, and act as the main client contact while developing junior staff and collaborating with Partners on complex assignments.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified.
• Strong UK accountancy practice experience.
• Experience managing audits and teams, or at Assistant Manager level with ambition to step up.
• Strong technical knowledge across audit.
• Experience reviewing audit files and working papers.
• Good understanding of audit planning, budgeting and completion.
• Strong client management and communication skills.
• Experience mentoring and developing junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of audit clients.
• Planning audits, including budgets, timescales and resources.
• Overseeing audits from planning to completion.
• Reviewing and signing off completed audit files.
• Reviewing work by the audit team and giving feedback.
• Managing audit budgets and keeping assignments on track.
• Leading point of contact for clients throughout the audit process.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Mentoring and developing junior audit staff.
• Providing training and technical guidance to seniors and juniors.
• Delegating work across the team effectively.
• Supporting Partners on complex assignments.
• Identifying and resolving issues arising during audits.
• Ensuring audits meet professional and technical standards.
• Contributing to development of the audit team and practice.
