Marchant Recruitment is seeking an organised Lead Attendance & Student Welfare Officer for a welcoming secondary school in Durham, County Durham. The role focuses on daily attendance tracking, family engagement, and safeguarding compliance.

You will work with Heads of Year, SENCOs and local authority teams, using SIMS/Arbor, starting ASAP. This full-time post offers stability and the chance to drive improvements in attendance and student wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience in school attendance, pastoral support or education administration.
• Proficient with school management software (SIMS/Arbor/Bromcom/CMIS).
• Solid understanding of DfE attendance codes, safeguarding guidance, and policies.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills with families.

Responsabilités

• Monitor daily attendance and punctuality using SIMS/Arbor.
• Conduct first-day absence calls and track unexplained absences.
• Perform home visits and participate in welfare meetings for persistently absent pupils.
• Prepare weekly attendance reports for SLT and LA officers.
• Coordinate attendance panels, reward schemes and reintegration plans.
• Maintain safeguarding and attendance records per DfE guidelines.
