Job summary

Gateley Hamer, part of Gateley Built Environment, seeks an Associate to lead landowner consultations, advise on Development Consent Orders and compulsory purchase matters for major projects. You will draft lands documents, negotiate with landowners, and work with a multi-disciplinary team across the project lifecycle.

The role involves client relationship management, business development, and contributing to reports and advice notes on CPOs and compensation.

Qualifications

• BSc Hons and MRICS qualification or equivalent
• Experience negotiating and advising clients on development and land matters
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proactive and disciplined with strong organisational abilities
• Ambitious individual capable of negotiating with multiple parties to achieve client outcomes
• Excellent interpersonal skills for building client relationships
• Ability to manage time and deadlines effectively
• Knowledge of Development Consent Orders and Compulsory Purchase Orders is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Lead on landowner consultations and advise on Development Consent Orders for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects
• Oversee drafting of lands-related documents for DCOs and advise on powers and land assembly
• Engage and negotiate with landowners and collaborate with other disciplines across project lifecycles
• Assist with compulsory purchase matters including drafting valuations and negotiating compensation
• Prepare reports and advice notes on compulsory purchase and compensation matters
• Advise acquiring authorities on promotion and implementation of compulsory purchase powers
• Support business development and build relationships with clients to secure new instructions
• Lead preparation of Property Costs Estimates and participate in BD activities
