Job summary

Calibre Search are working with a Manchester-based practice known for NHS healthcare delivery. They seek a Senior Architectural Technologist to join the healthcare delivery team, focusing on detailed design, coordination and delivery within live clinical settings.

You will produce detailed technical packages for construction issues and manage multi-disciplinary inputs, ensuring HTMs, HBNs, fire safety and infection control compliance on live hospital projects.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering UK NHS healthcare projects at RIBA Stages 3–7.
• Experience in live hospital environments and complex phasing.
• Knowledge of HTMs and HBNs for acute departments; NHS Trust approvals.
• Clinical construction experience; Revit on live schemes.

Responsibilities

• Producing and coordinating detailed technical packages for construction issue and live site delivery.
• Ensuring full compliance with HTMs, HBNs, fire strategy, infection control, and statutory requirements.
• Coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs including MEP, fire, acoustics and structural engineers.
• Working with NHS Trust Estates & Capital Teams, contractors, Project Managers, and Clerks of Works.
• Managing technical delivery within live hospital environments including decant and phasing programmes.

Job Title: Senior Architectural Technologist

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

Location: Manchester

Our client is a well-established Manchester-based practice that has built a formidable reputation as one of the UK's leading healthcare-focused architectural practices. With a strong portfolio of acute NHS projects and a collaborative, technically-driven culture, they've become a go-to partner for Trusts across the region and beyond.

They're now seeking a Senior Architectural Technologist to join their healthcare delivery team. This is a hands-on role focused on the detailed design, coordination, and delivery of live healthcare environments. You will be working on complex projects within fully operational clinical settings.

The Role

• Producing and coordinating detailed technical packages for construction issue and live site delivery
• Ensuring full compliance with Health Building Notes (HBNs), Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), fire strategy, infection control, and statutory requirements
• Coordinating multi-disciplinary consultant inputs including MEP, fire, acoustics, and structural engineers
• Working directly with NHS Trust Estates & Capital Teams, contractors, Project Managers, and Clerks of Works
• Managing technical delivery within live hospital environments, including complex decant and phasing programmes

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Strong experience delivering UK NHS healthcare projects at RIBA Stages 3-7
• Direct experience working within live hospital environments and complex phasing programmes
• Proven working knowledge of HTMs (fire, ventilation, medical gases, electrical, water safety) and HBNs for acute departments
• First-hand experience of NHS Trust approval processes and business case gateways
• Experience in construction within fully operational clinical settings
• Proficiency in Revit on live schemes
• Desirable: Experience across departments such as Emergency Departments, Operating Theatres, Imaging & Diagnostics, Critical Care & HDU, Inpatient Ward Refurbishments, or Mental Health Secure Units would be advantageous.
