Job summary

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking three Senior Application Developers to join the digital services team. The roles will focus on building secure, user‑centred business applications and driving automation across the Microsoft stack.

You will work with council services and suppliers to translate needs into robust solutions, covering data migrations, integrations and AI-powered improvements as part of the council's digital transformation agenda.

Qualifications

• Experience with full SDLC and delivering robust business applications.
• Ability to translate functional requirements into secure, scalable designs.
• Experience delivering automation using Microsoft Power Platform and integrations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain business applications across the full software development lifecycle.
• Gather and interpret functional and non-functional requirements, translating needs into secure, scalable designs.
• Deliver process automation using Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power Automate, Copilot Studio and Power Apps, with integrations across Microsoft 365 and corporate systems.
• Design, develop, and implement AI-powered solutions to improve efficiency and outcomes.
• Develop and support solutions using C#, SQL, JavaScript, APIs, SQL Server, SSIS and SSRS.
• Plan data migration and integration activity including discovery, mapping, cleansing, transformation, loading, validation, reconciliation and controlled cutover.
• Create and maintain complex SQL queries, views, stored procedures, ETL routines, interfaces, validation rules, exception handling and error reporting.
• Investigate data quality issues and coordinate with stakeholders to resolve delivery risks.
• Produce technical documentation and evidence to support assurance and live transition.
• Support ICT governance, security and corporate standards, ensuring measurable benefits.
