Job summary

Wigan Council is seeking an experienced Analyst to support Education, SEND and Post-16 services with performance insight, research, evaluation and BI to enable evidence-based decisions. You will use SQL and Power BI to identify trends, evaluate initiatives, and provide actionable insights to senior leaders and managers.

The role sits within the Performance and Insight Unit and supports service improvement and strategic planning.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to tell stories with data and present insights clearly.
• Experience with reporting and visualisation tools; notably Power BI and SQL.
• Ability to work autonomously and take initiative while collaborating with others.

Your role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Analyst to support the delivery and continuous improvement of services across Education, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and Post-16 provision. This pivotal role will lead the development of performance insight, research, evaluation and business intelligence that enables evidence-based decision-making and drives positive outcomes for children and young people.

Working at the heart of our transformation programme, you will use advanced analytical techniques, SQL and Power BI to identify trends, evaluate the impact of key initiatives, and provide actionable insights to senior leaders and service managers. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across Education, SEND and Post-16 services to understand operational challenges, improve data quality, and ensure that intelligence and performance information effectively supports service improvement, strategic planning and organisational transformation.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled analyst who is passionate about using data, insight and research to help shape and improve outcomes for learners, families and schools.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will be inquisitive and be able to use data to tell a story. You will have experience with reporting and visualisation tools, for example Power Bi and SQL. You will be able to work with autonomy and initiative. You will have confidence in developing analysts and fostering a collaborative environment where they can thrive.
