Job summary

Wigan Council’s Performance and Insight Unit is seeking a skilled Analyst to support the delivery and improvement of Education, SEND and Post-16 services. You will develop performance insight, research and BI that informs decisions affecting children, families and schools.

You’ll use SQL and Power BI to identify trends, evaluate initiatives and provide actionable insights to senior leaders and service managers, working with colleagues across Education and related services to improve data quality

Qualifications

• Experience with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI and SQL.
• Ability to use data to tell a story and support decision making.
• Autonomy and initiative with collaborative working style.
• Experience supporting Education, SEND or similar local authority services is a plus.

Your role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Analyst to support the delivery and continuous improvement of services across Education, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and Post-16 provision. This pivotal role will lead the development of performance insight, research, evaluation and business intelligence that enables evidence-based decision-making and drives positive outcomes for children and young people.

Working at the heart of our transformation programme, you will use advanced analytical techniques, SQL and Power BI to identify trends, evaluate the impact of key initiatives, and provide actionable insights to senior leaders and service managers. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across Education, SEND and Post-16 services to understand operational challenges, improve data quality, and ensure that intelligence and performance information effectively supports service improvement, strategic planning and organisational transformation.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled analyst who is passionate about using data, insight and research to help shape and improve outcomes for learners, families and schools.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will be inquisitive and be able to use data to tell a story. You will have experience with reporting and visualisation tools, for example Power Bi and SQL. You will be able to work with autonomy and initiative. You will have confidence in developing analysts and fostering a collaborative environment where they can thrive.
