Job summary

A&O Shearman in Belfast is seeking a Senior AI Engineer (Manager) to lead the AI Platform efforts within the IT (EA & Technology Platforms) team. You will steer strategy, design, and implementation of advanced AI/ML use cases, manage a skilled IT team and external providers, and drive end-to-end lifecycle of AI solutions for the firm.

The role entails advancing the AI platform, mentoring engineers, and aligning technical work with business outcomes for fee earners and business teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in machine learning, deep learning, and AI model development.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or C# for AI software development.
• Experience with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Cloud platforms experience (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience leading AI teams and managing external service providers.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement the AI strategy, architecture, and lifecycle across the firm.
• Lead a team of IT professionals and coordinate with external providers.
• Oversee model development, validation, deployment, and integration of AI solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement of the AI platform and maintain scalable architecture.
• Provide mentorship and performance management for AI engineers.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to map AI use cases to business outcomes.
• Define and enforce best practices, code review, testing, and security controls.
