Job summary

A&O Shearman in Belfast seeks a Senior AI Engineer (Manager) to lead the AI Platform within IT, driving strategy, architecture and full lifecycle AI solutions. You will mentor a skilled team, partner with business units and external providers, and ensure scalable AI delivery across the firm.

You will guide design, deployment and integration of AI use cases and align them with business goals, leveraging cloud platforms and modern ML tooling to enhance client and internal services.

Qualifications

• Experience in machine learning, deep learning, and AI model development.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, or C#.
• Experience with AI frameworks and libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Strong project and program management capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, design and implementation of AI/ML use cases across the firm.
• Manage and motivate a team of IT professionals and external providers.
• Oversee full lifecycle of AI solutions including development, validation, deployment and integration.
• Maintain relationships with fee earners and business teams to drive technical strategy.
• Define and operate the firm’s AI technology platform in alignment with best practices.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to map AI use cases to business outcomes.
• Mentor the AI engineering team and ensure HR compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement of technical strategy and architecture.
