Job summary

A&O Shearman in Belfast seeks a Senior AI Engineer (Manager) to lead the AI/ML strategy and the tech teams within the IT (EA & Technology Platforms) group. You will manage a team of IT professionals and guide external service providers to deliver AI solutions across the firm.

The role demands experience in ML, data analysis, software development, and strong stakeholder engagement to align AI initiatives with business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in machine learning, deep learning, and AI model development.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or C-Sharp.
• Experience with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience leveraging AI code-writing assistants with proper controls.
• Knowledge of IT strategic planning, design, and operations.
• Proven project and program management capabilities.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to lead and develop large global teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, design, and implementation of advanced AI/ML use cases across the firm.
• Manage and motivate a team of IT professionals and coordinate external providers.
• Oversee full lifecycle of AI solutions: development, validation, deployment, integration.
• Maintain relationships with fee earners and business teams to drive AI strategy.
• Define and operate the firm’s technical AI strategy with scalable architecture.
• Mentor AI Engineering and align with HR policies.
• Coordinate service-provider reviews and drive innovation.
• Demonstrate value of AI solutions to business outcomes.
