Job summary

Raytheon UK’s Strategic Research Group (SRG) seeks an experienced Data Scientist/ML specialist to develop novel AI solutions for mission-focused problems. You’ll drive technical development from scoping to delivery across customer and internal domains, mentoring juniors and sharing ideas with senior technical leaders.

The role is hybrid across Gloucester, Manchester or London, requiring SC/eDV clearance eligibility and collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams to shape project directions and

Qualifications

• BSc in Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field.
• Experience coding in Python and ML packages (HuggingFace, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Track record delivering ML solutions to customers and stakeholders.
• Understanding of AI/ML algorithms for diverse data types and tasks including Generative AI, NLP and computer vision.
• Experience training and developing AI models including Large Language Models.
• Ability to write high-quality scientific / technical content and publications.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex, novel data science solutions with minimal guidance.
• Scope, design and deliver data-centric solutions across disciplines.
• Undertake research and applied AI/ML tasks on customer and internal projects.
• Generate ideas for new research directions and provide technical leadership in small projects.
• Mentor junior team members within the SRG.
• Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to determine approaches and develop delivery.
