Job summary

Raytheon UK in Gloucester, Manchester or London seeks a data science/ML engineer to drive AI/ML development in the Strategic Research Group. You’ll scope ideas and deliver data-centric solutions for defence projects in a hybrid model with ~3 on-site days per week.

Required: Python, ML libraries, experience delivering ML solutions to stakeholders, and ability to communicate complex concepts to varied audiences. SC and eDV clearance are required.

Qualifications

• BSc in Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field.
• Experience coding in Python and ML packages (HuggingFace, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Have experience delivering ML solutions to stakeholders.
• Knowledge of AI/ML algorithms for different data types and tasks including Generative AI, NLP and computer vision.
• Experience training and developing AI models including Large Language Models.
• Ability to produce high-quality scientific writing for publications.
• Problem solve with autonomy, with some input from technical leaders.
• Self-starter, proactive in finding solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop novel data science solutions as part of a team with guidance from seniors.
• Deliver data-centric AI/ML solutions to a broad range of problems in defence.
• Undertake research and applied AI/ML tasks on customer/internal projects.
• Work with autonomy on assigned tasks within project groups.
• Generate ideas for new research directions.
• Collaborate with senior members, customers and stakeholders on technical approaches.
