Job summary

IG, a FTSE100 fintech, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to push AI across Lifecycle engineering with a primary focus on the Java backend. You will build tooling for AI-assisted coding, testing and deployments and integrate with Jira, Confluence, and the CI/CD pipeline.

The role emphasizes test-driven development, ownership from design to production, and mentoring colleagues in AI tooling. We offer a hybrid work model with three days in the office and strong opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

Extensive background as a Software Engineer with production systems.
Hands-on Java backend experience.
Strong test-driven development and pair programming discipline.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain internal tooling that embeds AI into day-to-day engineering work.
Contribute to observability in the AI-assisted pipeline.
Identify manual steps in coding, testing, and release that can run largely unattended.
Split work into small, releasable pieces that ship continuously.
Mentor less experienced engineers on effective use of AI tooling.
Work with security and compliance to ensure AI tooling meets IG's requirements.
Track metrics to assess AI tooling impact and iterate based on data.
