Job description

Student Administration and Academic Affairs are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced administrator to join the Faculty of Engineering & Physical Sciences as a Senior Administrative Officer in the Administration and Assessment Team.

The post is available on a permanent full-time basis.

The Administration and Assessment Teams act as a first point of contact for educational matters and support aspects of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught student lifecycle from induction through to graduation, including maintenance of student records and support for all assessment related processes.

You will work closely with the Team Leader, the Deputy Head of School (Education), the Directors of Programmes and other key academic staff, as well as colleagues across Student Administration and Academic Affairs and the wider University to ensure effective and professional support for all aspects of the team’s activities.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the day-to-day operational support to students and staff in the School of Electronics & Computer Science.
  2. Provide accurate and timely advice in response to student and academic enquiries.
  3. Maintain student records across multiple systems.
  4. Analyse, manipulate and interpret student data.
  5. Line manage and supervise Administrative Officer team members.

You will be an excellent team player with a proven ability to work proactively and a strong attention to detail. You will be able to plan and prioritise your own short- and medium-term work activities and use your initiative and judgement to resolve problems. Excellent communication, organisational and inter-personal skills are required, as is a commitment to providing an excellent service. You will have the ability to adapt to change quickly, maintaining receptiveness to new ideas and approaches and take an active role in identifying potential improvements in existing processes.

As a university we aim to create an environment where everyone can thrive and are proactive in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect and equality of opportunity. We believe that we can only truly meet our objectives if we are reflective of society, so we are passionate about creating a working environment in which you are free to bring your whole self to work. With a generous holiday allowance as well as additional university closure days, we are committed to supporting our staff and students and open to a flexible working approach.
