Job summary

Allianz UK is seeking a Senior Accounts Technician to join the Accounts Payment team in Guildford. This hybrid role requires attendance at the office ~40% of the time, with the rest remote.

You will deliver monthly/quarterly reporting, improve controls, and act as the SME for payment processes. You will coordinate external audits, support harmonisation projects, and develop SOPs while mentoring teammates and engaging senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in an Accounts Department.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and good knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong understanding of how business activities translate into financial transactions and reporting.
• Good knowledge of SAP and BEx systems.
• Capability to mentor and support colleagues within a team environment.
• Strong ability to analyse, interpret and present complex financial and operational data to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including up to Executive Committee.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver monthly and quarterly reporting in accordance with deadlines, ensuring outputs are accurate and insightful.
• Improve the controls environment and support audit recommendations to strengthen governance and mitigate risk.
• Act as the SME for payment processes, providing guidance and support across the business.
• Own and coordinate the external audit process with timely delivery and stakeholder engagement.
• Support projects related to Accounting Harmonisation and payment improvements.
• Develop and governance SOPs, rules, and process documentation for consistency and compliance.
• Build relationships with internal and external customers, including Executive Committee members.
• Maintain a robust control framework for payments and controls, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Develop dashboards and MI to provide visibility of performance, trends, risks, and exceptions.
• Present complex financial and operational information to diverse audiences to support decision-making.
• Support the Team Leader, mentor colleagues, and cover during absences.
• Drive continuous improvement through process simplification, standardisation, automation and best practice.
• Use performance data to identify trends and provide strategic insights.
• Manage relationships with offshore teams to ensure consistent process execution.
