Job summary

A Senior Accountant role in Waterlooville, Hampshire, offering hybrid working (up to 2 days WFH). Salary £44,000 - £50,000 DOE with a 36.5 hour week. This permanent position involves managing a varied SME client portfolio and providing technical guidance.

You will review accounts, file tax returns, advise on tax planning and business advisory matters, and coach junior staff while liaising with HMRC and Companies House as required.

Qualifications

• ACCA, ACA, ATT, AAT or equivalent professional qualification.
• A minimum of 5 years' accountancy practice experience.
• Strong experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and tax returns.
• Excellent understanding of UK tax legislation and compliance.
• Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Dext and FreeAgent.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, reviewing and submitting accounts and tax returns for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies.
• Managing a varied portfolio of SME clients.
• Reviewing work completed by junior team members and providing coaching and technical support.
• Advising clients on tax planning and tax-efficient strategies.
• Providing business advisory services, including budgeting, cashflow forecasting and profitability reviews.
• Preparing and reviewing bookkeeping, VAT and CIS returns where required.
• Conducting year-end client meetings and presenting financial insights.
• Supporting the onboarding and integration of new clients.
• Liaising with HMRC and Companies House on behalf of clients.
• Managing client relationships and delivering an outstanding customer experience.
• Supporting the training and development of colleagues across the team.
