Job summary

Adecco is recruiting a Senior Accountant for a respected accountancy practice in Waterlooville. You will manage a client portfolio, prepare and review statutory accounts and tax returns, and provide high-level advisory support in a collaborative, people-focused environment.

In this role you’ll mentor junior staff, contribute to client relationships, and help drive business growth while upholding compliance with UK tax laws.

Qualifications

  • ACCA/ACA/ATT/AAT or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years' accountancy practice experience.
  • Experience with statutory accounts and tax returns.
  • Strong knowledge of UK tax legislation and compliance.
  • Experience using cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Dext, FreeAgent).
  • Proficient Excel and Word skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and submit accounts and tax returns for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies.
  • Manage a varied portfolio of SME clients.
  • Review work by junior team members and provide coaching and technical support.
  • Advise clients on tax planning and tax-efficient strategies.
  • Provide business advisory services including budgeting, cashflow forecasting and profitability reviews.
  • Prepare and review bookkeeping, VAT and CIS returns where required.
  • Conduct year-end client meetings and present financial insights.
  • Support onboarding and integration of new clients.
  • Liaise with HMRC and Companies House on behalf of clients.
  • Manage client relationships and deliver outstanding customer experience.
  • Support training and development across the team.

The Role

About You

You’ll be an experienced practice accountant who enjoys building strong client relationships and supporting others to succeed.

Essential Requirements
  • ACCA, ACA, ATT, AAT or equivalent professional qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years' accountancy practice experience.
  • Strong experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and tax returns.
  • Excellent understanding of UK tax legislation and compliance.
  • Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Dext and FreeAgent.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
