Job summary

Autograph Specialist Recruitment Limited seeks a Senior Accountant in Helston, Cornwall, to lead statutory accounts, tax returns and client relationships. The role combines technical accounting with supervision of junior staff and day-to-day practice operations.

The successful candidate will have ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent, at least five years in practice, and strong knowledge of accounts prep, tax and VAT, plus experience with Xero/QuickBooks/Sage.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or equivalent.
• At least five years’ experience within an accountancy practice.
• Strong knowledge of accounts preparation, taxation and VAT.
• Experience managing client relationships and supervising staff.
• Familiarity with Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and finalise statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
• Prepare Self Assessment and Corporation Tax returns, alongside VAT returns.
• Produce management accounts and support payroll and CIS requirements.
• Build strong client relationships and act as a key point of contact for queries.
• Liaise with clients and HMRC to ensure information is complete and deadlines are met.
• Lead tax review meetings and identify opportunities to provide additional services.
• Review contracts and identify unprofitable engagements.
• Manage, mentor and review the work of junior team members.
• Oversee day-to-day office operations, systems and processes.
• Support the directors with workflow management, practice operations and deadlines.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AML requirements and relevant legislation.
