Job summary

SMH Group in Sheffield seeks an accounting professional to manage a portfolio of clients and provide accounts and audit support within a busy practice. You will prepare financial statements, tax returns, and VAT returns while guiding junior staff.

The role requires ACA/ACCA part qualification with relevant experience, strong IT skills (Office 365, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, IRIS) and the ability to develop the team. This on-site position offers a supportive, growth-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA part qualified with relevant experience.
• Ability to actively manage own workloads and develop team members.
• Proficient with Office 365 and accounting software (Sage, Xero or QuickBooks) and IRIS.
• Proven ability in managing a portfolio of mixed clients, and in accounts, tax and advisory work.

Responsibilities

• Manage and take responsibility for own portfolio of clients.
• Prepare and review complex company financial statements.
• Prepare and review interim management accounts.
• Prepare and review personal tax returns.
• Prepare and review partnership accounts and returns.
• Review and submit quarterly VAT returns.
• Attend client meetings with directors and business owners.
• Train staff and allocate duties.
