Hawthorne-Finch Talent Solutions Ltd in Sheffield is seeking a proactive Senior Accountant to own a diverse client portfolio and deliver statutory accounts, management reporting and tax compliance. You will mentor junior staff and guide them toward ACCA/ACA qualification within a collaborative, growing practice.

Hybrid of client-facing work and technical accounting, with strong study support and access to funded CPD.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified (or finalist/part-qualified expecting to qualify within 12-18 months) with 3+ years' UK accountancy practice experience.
• Proven ability to manage a mixed client portfolio and conduct client meetings.
• Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts, tax returns, and VAT submissions.
• Strong working knowledge of accounts preparation software (IRIS) and cloud platforms (Xero/Sage/QuickBooks) along with MS Office 365/Excel.
• Experience allocating duties, reviewing work, and training junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of SMEs, limited companies and partnerships.
• Lead statutory, management and tax work for clients while mentoring juniors.
• Be the primary client contact and develop relationships with company directors.
• Review and improve workflow quality across the team.
• Support career progression toward Client Manager within the firm.

The Opportunity

In this engaging fee-earning role, you will take direct responsibility for managing a diverse portfolio of SMEs, limited companies, and partnerships across South Yorkshire. Delivering a complete range of financial services—from statutory accounts and management reporting to personal/corporate tax compliance—you will act as a primary client contact while mentoring and reviewing the work of junior colleagues. Key Responsibilities & Requirements

• Qualifications & Experience: ACA or ACCA qualified (or finalist/part-qualified expecting to qualify within 12-18 months) with 3+ years' UK accountancy practice experience.
• Portfolio & Client Management: Proven ability to manage a mixed client portfolio, conduct client meetings, and build strong relationships with company directors and business owners.

• Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of accounts preparation software (ideally IRIS) alongside cloud accounting platforms (Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks) and MS Office 365/Excel.
• Team Leadership: Experience allocating duties, conducting work reviews, and training junior staff members to ensure quality control across the team.

Package & Benefits

• Base Salary: £38,000 - £46,000 per annum (dependent on qualification status and practice experience, aligned with Sheffield market rates).
