Senior Accountant – Role Overview

NC Associates are working on an exclusive basis with a rapidly expanding firm of Chartered Accountants based in Manchester City Centre. They are looking to recruit a Qualified Senior Accountant to work closely with the Client Accounts Director. The firm provides comprehensive financial solutions to a diverse range of clients, including businesses of all sizes and industries. Their services include accounting, taxation, outsourcing solutions, and growth advisory, ensuring clients' financial ambitions are planned and achieved with excellence and precision.

As a Senior Accountant, you should be a motivated and experienced team member, playing a pivotal role in driving growth services. You will collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure seamless cloud integration, preparation of management accounts for board meetings, decision-making, and efficient financial processes.

Senior Accountant Duties

• Prepare working papers for each set of management accounts, reconciling all balance sheet items such as Journals, WIP Analysis, Bad Debt Provision, Bank Accounts, Accruals, Deferred Income, PAYE, Pension Controls, and Tax Provision.
• Prepare management accounts monthly or quarterly using systems like Xero, including a comprehensive management pack with an Executive Summary in Excel.
• Build strong relationships with clients and internal finance teams, understanding their needs and proactively suggesting improvements to the finance function, staying ahead of industry trends.
• Review accounting processes to identify automation, efficiency improvements, and cost savings through cloud technology.
• Meet monthly deadlines to provide clients with key management information promptly after month-end.
• Support ongoing projects such as system reviews and migrations, acting as Financial Controller, preparing company valuation reports, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, projections, team retention, LTIPs, and succession planning.

Experience Required

• Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA)
• Previous experience in a similar practice role
• At least 3 years of experience with cloud-based accounting systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage)
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex processes and recommend improvements
• Exceptional communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to work independently, collaborate within a team, and manage multiple client engagements simultaneously
