A well-established accountancy practice based in Chichester, West Sussex, is currently seeking an experienced Semi Senior / Senior Accountant to join on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of clients, primarily owner-managed businesses, preparing year-end accounts, tax returns, and providing regular advice on tax and other financial matters. The role also involves producing management accounts while adhering to deadlines and delivering excellent client service. Experience with Xero and a good understanding of management accounts and corporation tax is required.

Senior Accountant Job Overview

• Manage a portfolio of clients in a client-facing role
• Prepare statutory and year-end accounts
• Handle personal and business tax returns
• Advise on and resolve tax-related issues
• Prepare and submit VAT returns
• Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts
• Assist with ad hoc accounting tasks such as P11Ds and ATED submissions
• Collaborate with team members to maintain high standards and efficiency
• Support management with additional duties relevant to the role

Senior Accountant Job Requirements

• AAT qualification preferred but not essential; working towards ACA/ACCA
• Willing to grow with a forward-thinking firm
• 2-3 years' experience in an accountancy practice
• Proficiency with Xero, Dext, Sage, and QuickBooks
• Experience preparing management accounts for various clients
• Must be a driver and live within a commutable distance of Chichester
• Strong IT skills, including MS Office (Excel and Word)

Salary & Benefits

• £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience
• Permanent, full-time (37.5 hours/week, 9am-5.30pm, 1-hour lunch)
• 28 days holiday including bank holidays
