Senior Account Director

Overview of role

As Senior Account Director, you are critical to the delivery of our ambition; working closely with the Associate Director, you will be a key interface for our clients and lead planning projects from start to finish, acting as the conduit who brings together our specialists to deliver exceptional work.

The Senior Account Director needs to have a strong understanding of all channels and the role these can play in overall communications solutions and customer journeys, alongside understanding customers' onsite behaviors and how those affect final business results.

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the Associate Director.

Measures of success

In three months, you would have:

  • Gained a good understanding of your clients, media planning systems, processes, and collaborative working with the team.
  • Felt confident delivering/responding to client requests and briefs independently or as part of the team, utilizing the correct resources.

In six months, you would have:

  • Built strong, trustworthy client relationships and established yourself as a key day-to-day lead on the account.
  • Become a key figure in the team, supporting your AD/BD and wider team.
  • Built trust within wider departments, including implementational and specialist teams.
  • Understood the intricacies of the clients’ commercial framework and how we are remunerated across the accounts.
  • Developed a good understanding of your clients’ markets and the evolving media landscape, approaching briefs to deliver effective results with a balance of brand and performance.
  • Identified and implemented improved ways of working.

In 12 months, you would have:

  • Taken on additional responsibilities, spotting opportunities to sell wider WPP services.
  • Played an active role in new business pitches.
Responsibilities of the role
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of accounts, ensuring workflow accuracy, best practices in campaign management, and establishing yourself as the first client contact.
  • Build strong client relationships, becoming a trusted strategic partner.
  • Lead planning responses from start to finish, ensuring seamless collaboration with implementational and specialist teams.
  • Grow your understanding of digital, data, web, and marketing technology, working closely with implementation teams.
  • Understand your clients’ business and KPIs, and how we are remunerated.
  • Proactively identify and pursue additional service opportunities.
  • Contribute to monthly billing and financial health of accounts.
  • Develop internal relationships across teams and support your AD in team development.
  • Promote your team’s work internally and externally.
  • Participate in agency-wide initiatives.
