Job summary:

As an Associate Account Director, you will be responsible for excellence in delivery across projects within medium-to-large and often complex client accounts. As a client account lead or captain (depending on size of account) you will provide strategic counsel to clients, manage execution of parallel ongoing projects and oversee a cross-functional internal team alongside the account lead and/or sponsor.

Stepping up from the Senior Account Manager role will see you take more of a defined leadership role within your accounts, with an increasing focus on guiding the team as they drive deliverables, actively checking and maintaining client satisfaction, and proactively seeking opportunities to grow the account.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage client relationships and set expectations of the agency.
  • Oversee a portfolio of projects within at least two medium-to-large client accounts, ensuring alignment with the overall client strategy.
  • Ensure high standards of work are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Troubleshoot client challenges and last-minute requests, managing difficult conversations as needed.
  • Challenge clients when necessary to ensure quality delivery.
  • Maintain knowledge of clients' business and external factors, providing strategic counsel and adjusting programs accordingly.
  • Develop objectives and strategies for new client work, ensuring consistency with overall program strategy.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients and coach others to do the same.
  • Facilitate client meetings and workshops, managing challenging discussions when necessary.
  • Identify opportunities for organic growth within existing accounts and confidently propose new ideas.
  • Support new business development efforts, including RFP responses and credential presentations.
  • Lead internal account planning processes.
  • Manage and develop team members, fostering a positive and productive team culture.
  • Promote cross-learning and sharing of best practices among team members.
  • Ensure effective communication between all business functions involved in client accounts.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to junior team members and manage their performance.
  • Participate in hiring and support the career development of team members.
  • Manage financial aspects of client accounts, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, and profitability analysis.
  • Address scope creep and other financial issues proactively.
  • Participate in internal initiatives to enhance team culture and development.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and award-winning work, sharing insights with the team.
