Senior Account Director

Overview of role

As Senior Account Director, you are critical to the delivery of our ambition; working closely with the Associate Director, you will be a key interface for our clients and lead planning projects from start to finish, acting as the conduit who brings together our specialists to deliver exceptional work.

The Senior Account Director needs to have a strong understanding of all channels and the role these can play in overall communications solutions and customer journeys, alongside understanding customers on site behaviours and how those affect final business results.

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the Associate Director.

Measures of success

In three months, you would have:

  • Gained a good understanding of your clients, media planning systems, processes, and collaborative team working.
  • Felt confident in delivering/responding to client requests and briefs independently or as part of the team, utilizing the correct resources.

In six months, you would have:

  • Built strong, trustworthy client relationships and established yourself as a key day-to-day lead on the account.
  • Become a key figure in the team, supporting your AD/BD and wider team.
  • Built trust within wider departments, including implementational and specialist teams.
  • Understood the intricacies of the clients’ commercial framework and how we are remunerated across the accounts.
  • Gained a good understanding of your clients’ market and the evolving media landscape, approaching briefs effectively to deliver results balancing brand and performance.
  • Identified and implemented improved ways of working.

In 12 months, you would have:

  • Taken on additional responsibilities, spotting opportunities to sell wider WPP services and projects.
  • Played an active role in new business pitches.

Responsibilities of the role

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the accounts, ensuring workflow accuracy and best practice in campaign management, establishing yourself as the first port of call for clients.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, becoming a trusted strategic partner with a deep understanding of their business and growth drivers.
  • Lead planning responses from start to finish, ensuring seamless collaboration with implementation and specialist teams.
  • Grow understanding of digital, data, web, and marketing technology, working closely with implementation teams.
  • Develop a strong understanding of your clients’ business and KPIs, and how we are remunerated.
  • Proactively identify and pursue additional service opportunities within your clients.
  • Contribute to monthly billing and financial health of your accounts.
  • Develop internal relationships across teams, supporting your AD in team development.
  • Promote your team’s work internally and externally.
  • Participate actively in agency initiatives and culture.
