Job summary

Southern Water is seeking a Senior Authorised Person for the MEICA Technical Team to oversee electrical safety, risk management and compliance across HV/LV systems. The role involves appointing authorised personnel, developing switching schedules, and providing specialist technical support to operations.

The successful candidate will have substantial electrical engineering experience in an industrial setting, HV knowledge, and trainer qualifications, with potential involvement in 24/7 standby

Qualifications

• Significant electrical engineering experience in an industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety regulations and risk management.
• Experience with High Voltage equipment and switching operations upto 11kV.

Responsibilities

• Act as SME on electrical safety, standards, and procedures.
• Appoint and assess Authorised Persons and Competent Persons.
• Create and maintain switching schedules for HV and LV sites.
• Carry out switching operations up to 11kV.
• Audit electrical work for compliance with standards and regulations.
• Investigate electrical and mechanical safety incidents and recommend improvements.
• Provide specialist technical advice to operations teams.
• Collaborate with contractors and internal stakeholders on safe working arrangements.
• Support training for Authorised Persons and refresher training.
• Participate in standby rota to provide 24/7 technical support.
