Job summary

Barhale Ltd in London seeks a Senior HV/LV Authorising Engineer to lead the development of HV capability across the Southern Region. You will establish an HV SAP team, set electrical safety rules, and provide independent oversight from design to delivery on major water projects.

The role requires extensive HV/LV experience, strong leadership, and collaboration with MEICA, HSE and Quality teams to ensure compliant safety governance and project success.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with HV and LV systems and 11 kV switch duties.
• Proven track record as an Authorising Engineer in water/utility projects.
• Knowledge of electrical safety rules, permits to work, and NESR documentation.
• Ability to lead HV SAP team and provide independent safety oversight.
• Experience aligning procedures with client requirements and regional governance.

Responsibilities

• Develop the HV SAP team through training and mentoring
• Maintain HV/LV safety rules, records and audit trails
• Oversee switching schedules, isolation, earthing and testing
• Set safety documents and interfaces with client assets
• Support design, commissioning reviews and safety planning
• Assess subcontractor electrical competence and monitor safety
• Ensure procedures align with legislation and NES documentation
• Forecast and plan personnel to support regional growth
• Develop commissioning sequences and ITP processes
• Audit safe isolation and lockout procedures
• Support emergency response planning with site HSE teams
