Job summary

CMDP+ is seeking an HV Co-ordinator to safely deliver water and wastewater programmes, overseeing electrical safety during construction and commissioning in line with statutory regs and industry standards.

You will report to the Designated Individuals and act as the regional electrical H&S focal point, ensuring compliance, competence and proper risk controls across projects. Strong knowledge of HV safety and BS7671 required.

Qualifications

• 10 years on-site electrical installation experience.
• 2+ years as Authorising Engineer or Authorised Person.
• HND/HNC/C&G Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of BS7671, BS7430 and IET Wiring Regulations.
• Ability to assess risks and implement risk controls.

Responsibilities

• Administer LV/HV electrical safety rules and update per changes.
• Monitor LV safety rules and inform Responsible/Authorised Persons.
• Provide technical and quality support to Project, M&E, and Site Managers.
• Manage M&E subcontractors to meet safety and design standards.
• Lead electrical safety governance with CMDP’s SHEQ team.

Job description

CMDP+ are looking to strengthen team with an HV Co-ordinator to help safely deliver the Southern Water Amp 8 Waste and Water programmes.

The HV Co-ordinator will be required to oversee electrical safety during the construction and Commissioning of critical Water and Wastewater infrastructure. They must ensure compliance with Statutory regulations, Industry Standards and CMDP’s Policies and Procedures.

You will report directly to the parent company Designated Individuals and will be the regional electrical H&S management focal point to maintain standards and compliance.

Responsibilities Will include:

• Administration of the electrical safety rules. Maintenance of rules in line with legislative, regulatory or industry changes.
• Monitors use of the LV Electrical Safety Rules. Ensuring that any amendments to the LV Electrical Safety Rules are brought to the attention of, and are understood by, all Responsible Persons, and Authorised Persons.
• Providing Technical & Quality support for Project, M&E, and Site Managers
• Management of M&E subcontractors to ensure they meet safety, quality and design requirements
• Act as the central figure Supporting the CMDP’s H&S team in matters of electrical safety.
• Ensure that the project resources and competencies are reviewed ensuring that there is the appropriate level of Permit issuers in place. Any Specialist activities will need to be identified.
• Identify Process areas that will need to have independent Hazard Studies performed and ensure that these hold points are articulated in the programme
• Involvement with key stakeholders for related Safe Systems of Work such as Hydraulics and ATEX/DSEAR.
• Attendance on Parent Company Authorising Engineer review panels.
• Works in close alignment with the SHEQ team for incident investigations. The AE will ensure that any lessons learnt are integrated into procedures and circulated to the relevant personnel.
• Providing professional and technical guidance on electrical construction & electrical contracting delivery.
• Oversee documentation, inspection, and testing procedures to maintain project quality.
• Review and input into the quality plan.
• Undertake Authorised Person audits.
• Works with procurement staff to assist in the competence vetting of supply chain partners.
• Working with our supply chains in areas of quality management and review and comment upon NICEIC and BS7671 model forms of certification.
• Actively engage in commissioning quality.
• Shall provide regular feedback to the Framework Commissioning Manager / Framework MEICA manager any potential project challenges.
• Deliver technical bulletins, toolbox talks and briefings, responding to incidents or observations, and keeping procedures aligned to current guidance and industry practice.
• Identify competencies for key project players and understand using GAP analysis potential project specific training requirements.
• Support the Interview, train, competence assess and appoint potential Authorised Persons.

Essential Requirement:10 years on-site experience within the Electrical Installation industry.Minimum of 2 years recent experience of working as an Authorising Engineer or an experienced Authorised Persons 5+ years.HND, HNC, C+G Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or similar.Good technical background with respect to Low Voltage systems (BS7671) and earthing systems (BS7430)HV awareness, knowledge of switching schedules, equipment, fault currents, signal injection and Safe systems of works.Experienced in verifying safe systems of work.Must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of UK health and safety legislation and an ability to carry out risk assessments and propose actions for risk control/managementIET Wiring Regulation - 18 th Edition certification.Knowledge of PUWER regulations, Portable appliance testing and COSHH.Comprehensive knowledge of EAWR 1989

Desirable Requirements:Registered with a relevant engineering institution as a Chartered Engineer or Incorporated EngineerTraining and qualifications related to DSEAR.LV City and Guilds AP1/AP2 Qualification.HV City and Guilds AP1/AP2 Qualification.Proven auditing skills.Familiar with the Water Sector Regulations.Experience of HV safety management, and the development of HV safety controls and policy.Field experience of LV/HV power system commissioning, testing, and operation.Previous experience in a similar role is essential
