A leading children’s services provider in Southampton is seeking a SENDIASS Support Worker to provide individualized support to children and young people with SEND. This part-time role involves maintaining accurate records, advocating for clients, and fostering relationships with relevant stakeholders. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills and have experience in educational needs or social care. A qualification in SEND law or commitment to training is essential. This role offers a salary of £19,714.28 pro rata and various benefits including annual leave and a pension.

Qualifications

  • Track record or personal experience in special educational needs, disabilities, education, health, or social care.
  • Professional, approachable, and outcome focused.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual support to children and young people with SEND and/or their parents.
  • Help customers set clear expectations of support.
  • Explain relevant SEND legislation when providing advice or support.
  • Identify barriers that customers face to engage with SEND services.
  • Proactively support children and young people to self-advocate.
  • Maintain records of advice and support given.
  • Cultivate professional relationships with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the SENDIASS website and social media.

Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Professional experience in leadership
Ability to manage complex conversations
Confident working with Microsoft packages
Full UK driving licence

Education

Qualification in SEND law or commitment to achieve ISPSEA SEN Law Training
