Job summary

Devonshire Infant and Junior Academies in Smethwick are seeking a SENDCo to provide strategic and operational oversight of SEND provision across both schools. The role includes managing our Focus Provision for Autistic children and leading a caring, professional team.

The successful candidate will be an inspirational leader, with the vision to motivate staff, work with outside agencies and parents, and develop staff through targeted strategies and CPD within the MAT.

Qualifications

  • Preferably a current SENDCO qualification.
  • Experience of the SENDCO role.
  • Good understanding of Autism and high support needs.
  • Experience across the Primary age range.
  • Knowledge and experience of EHCP application and Annual Reviews.
  • Efficient time management.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with outside agencies and parents.
  • Ability to support and develop staff, modelling strategies like Emotion Coaching, Low Arousal, intensive interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational oversight of SEND provision across both Devonshire campuses.
  • Manage the Focus Provision for Autistic children.
  • Lead and inspire staff; drive quality and welfare for pupils with additional needs.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies and parents to implement effective support plans.
  • Support CPD within the MAT and model best practice in inclusion.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a SENDCO at Devonshire Infant and Junior Academies in Smethwick. This is a Senior Leadership role which will operate across both schools.

The successful candidate will be a highly organised creative thinker who can provide a strategic and operational oversight of provision for those pupils with SEND. This will include managing our resource base which is a Focus Provision for Autistic children. You will be an inspirational leader, with the vision and confidence to motivate, challenge and support; someone who is passionate about children’s learning and welfare.

We are seeking a candidate who has:
  • Preferably a current SENDCo qualification
