Job summary

Victoria Academies Trust is seeking a SENDCO to lead SEND provision across Devonshire Infant and Junior Academies in Smethwick. The role requires strategic oversight of our autism-focused Focus Provision, with a strong emphasis on teaching and pupil welfare.

The successful candidate will be an inspirational leader, with experience in EHCPs, Annual Reviews and strong collaboration with external agencies to support families and staff development.

Qualifications

• Preferably a current SENDCo qualification.
• Experience of the SENDCo role.
• Good understanding of Autism and high support needs.
• Experience working across the Primary age range.
• Knowledge and experience of managing EHCP applications and Annual Reviews.
• Efficient time management.
• Ability to build strong relationships with outside agencies and parents.
• Ability to develop staff with strategies such as Emotion Coaching, Low Arousal approach, intensive interaction.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational oversight of provision for pupils with SEND across two academies.
• Manage the Focus Provision resource base for Autistic children.
• Lead and inspire staff, supporting welfare and learning across settings.
• Collaborate with families and external agencies to support individual outcomes.

We have an exciting opportunity for a SENDCO at Devonshire Infant and Junior Academies in Smethwick. This is a Senior Leadership role which will operate across both schools. The successful candidate will be a highly organised creative thinker who can provide a strategic and operational oversight of provision for those pupils with SEND. This will include managing our resource base which is a Focus Provision for Autistic children. You will be an inspirational leader, with the vision and confidence to motivate, challenge and support; someone who is passionate about children's learning and welfare.
