Job summary

Keys Group in Colchester is seeking a SENDCO to lead and coordinate the provision for pupils with SEND, ensuring personalised, high-quality support that enables them to achieve their potential.

You will champion inclusive practice, work with staff and external agencies, and model professional integrity and the EPIC values as outlined in the Staff Code of Conduct. A teaching component of 0.5 hours/week is included and annual EHCP reviews are required.

Qualifications

  • Accredited SENDCo qualification and QTS/QTLS are required.
  • Proven leadership and experience in SEND provision.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding policies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate SEND provision for pupils with a disability.
  • Complete Annual, Interim and Emergency EHCP reviews per guidance.
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of SEND policy and provision.
  • Support looked after pupils and liaise with staff, parents, agencies.
  • Advise on budget and resources to meet pupil needs and staff development.
  • Promote inclusion and access to the curriculum across the school.
  • Lead interventions and quality assure Teaching & Learning in SEND.
  • Attend and review PEP meetings and ensure safeguarding compliance.

Job description

To lead and coordinate the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that all pupils receive personalised, high-quality support that enables them to achieve their potential. The SENDCO will champion inclusive practice, work collaboratively with staff and external agencies, and model professional integrity and the EPIC values as outlined in the Staff Code of Conduct.,

  • There will be a teaching responsibility as part of this role at 0.5 hours per week; we are open to specialist in Maths, English, Science, or PSHE from functional skills to GCSE
  • Support with the strategic development of SEND provision in the school
  • Complete Annual Reviews, Interim reviews and Emergency Reviews of EHCP's in line with the SEND code of practice
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability
  • Oversee the looked after pupils within the school
  • Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
  • Advise on the use of school's budget and other resources to meet pupils' needs effectively, including staff development
  • Promote inclusion in the school community and access to the curriculum.
  • Leading and managing staff and the effective deployment of staff and resources
  • Lead on interventions that will support all pupils
  • Quality assurance of Teaching and Learning with a focus on SEND provision.
  • Attend and review PEP meetings
  • Have an accredited SENDCo qualification
  • QTS/QTLS is a requirement
  • Are passionate about education and inclusion
  • Have leadership experience and qualities
  • Are ready to develop their leadership skills within a school
  • Can effectively manage the SEND provision in partnership with the Headteacher
