Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Hyde, within their SEND unit. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex SEND needs, helping them engage with learning and develop social, emotional and communication skills.

The role is full-time and long-term, requiring calm, patient and consistent approaches, with experience supporting children with SEND and challenging behaviour.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within a specialist setting or SEND unit.
• Experience working with children on a 1:1 basis.
• Confident and experienced in supporting challenging behaviour.
• Calm, patient and consistent in their approach.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils within the school's SEND unit.
• Supporting children with complex SEND needs, including challenging behaviour.
• Helping pupils to engage with learning and develop their social, emotional and communication skills.
• Working closely with the class teacher, SEND team and other professionals to provide consistent support.
• Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and behaviour throughout the school day.
