Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Hyde, working within their SEND unit. This full-time, long-term role involves supporting pupils with complex SEND needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

The ideal candidate will have prior SEND experience, be calm under pressure, and collaborate closely with the SEND team and teachers to deliver tailored support throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally in a SEND unit or specialist setting.
• Proven ability to work 1:1 with pupils and support small groups.
• Confident in managing challenging behaviour with a calm, patient approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils in the SEND unit.
• Support pupils with complex SEND needs, including behavioural challenges.
• Help pupils engage with learning and develop social, emotional, and communication skills.
• Collaborate with class teacher, SEND team, and other professionals for consistent support.
• Support pupils' emotional regulation and behaviour throughout the day.

Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Hyde, working within their dedicated SEND unit.

This is a full-time, long-term position supporting pupils with complex SEND needs, including challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will have experience working with children on a 1:1 basis and be confident providing tailored support to meet individual needs.

The Role

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils within the school's SEND unit.
• Supporting children with complex SEND needs, including challenging behaviour.
• Helping pupils to engage with learning and develop their social, emotional and communication skills.
• Working closely with the class teacher, SEND team and other professionals to provide consistent support.
• Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and behaviour throughout the school day.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within a specialist setting or SEND unit.
• Experience working with children on a 1:1 basis.
• Confident and experienced in supporting challenging behaviour.
• Calm, patient and consistent in their approach.
• Team Teach qualification is highly desirable, although not essential.
• A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification would be advantageous.
