Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking enthusiastic SEND Tutors to deliver high-quality 1:1 tuition to students across St Helens. Sessions may take place in students' homes, schools, or community settings, tailored to each learner's needs and goals.

You will support children with SEND, including those with EHCPs, autism, ADHD, SEMH or other needs, and adapt your approach to suit diverse learning styles while maintaining strong communication with families and schools.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with QTS, PGCE or equivalent, or substantial tutoring experience.
• Experience supporting children with SEND, including EHCPs, autism, ADHD, SEMH or other needs.
• Proven ability to deliver effective one-to-one tuition or small-group interventions.
• Ability to adapt lessons to a range of learning styles and abilities.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with learners and families.

Prospero Teaching is looking for enthusiastic and experienced SEND Tutors to deliver high-quality 1:1 tuition to students across St Helens

As a SEND Tutor, you'll provide personalised learning that is tailored to each student's individual needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and make meaningful academic and personal progress. Every learner is different, giving you the opportunity to adapt your teaching style and create engaging sessions that inspire success.

Tuition may be delivered in students' homes, schools, community settings or other agreed venues, depending on each student's individual requirements.

Position Details

• Location: St Helens
• Position: SEND Tutor
• Hours: 5-15 hours per week (flexible to suit your availability)
• Start Date: September 2026
• Contract: Ongoing

What We're Looking For

The successful SEND Tutor will have:

• A recognised teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE or equivalent) or significant tutoring experience
• Experience supporting children and young people with SEND, including those with EHCPs, autism, ADHD, SEMH or other additional learning needs
• Experience delivering effective 1:1 tuition or targeted small-group interventions
• The ability to adapt lessons to suit a range of learning styles and abilities
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• A patient, empathetic and flexible approach to supporting learners

To Be Eligible, You Must:

• Have the Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one
• Provide two professional references relating to work with children or young people
