Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a SEND Maths Tutor to provide focused, 1:1 maths tuition for a learner in St Helens. The role requires tailoring your teaching to meet the learner’s needs, building rapport and making maths accessible and engaging to foster confidence and progress.

The successful candidate will have strong maths knowledge and experience with SEND learners, including SEMH, autism or ADHD. QTS/PGCE or equivalent is desirable, and eligibility to work in the UK is assumed.

Qualifications

• Strong maths knowledge and ability to teach GCSE level maths.
• Experience tutoring or teaching learners with SEND.
• Patient and adaptable approach to meet individual learner needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 Maths tuition to the learner in St Helens.
• Adapt teaching style to suit the learner’s needs and SEMH/ASD/ADHD considerations.
• Build rapport and make Maths engaging to develop confidence and progress.
• Support ongoing maths progress and learner engagement in sessions.

Do you have a strong Maths background and experience supporting young people with SEND?

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a SEND Maths Tutor to provide individualised educational support to a learner across St Helens.

The role will involve delivering Maths tuition on a 1:1 basis, whilst adapting your teaching style to suit the learner's individual needs.

The successful tutor will be able to build rapport, make Maths accessible and engaging, and support the learner to develop confidence alongside their academic progress.

Position Details:

• Location: St Helens
• Position: SEND Maths Tutor
• Hours: 5-15 hours per week
• Start Date: September 2026
• Duration: Ongoing

Experience, Training and Qualifications:

We're particularly interested in candidates with:

• Strong Maths subject knowledge
• GCSE Maths teaching or tutoring experience
• Previous experience working with SEND learners
• Experience supporting SEMH, Autism, ADHD or other additional needs
• QTS, PGCE or equivalent desirable
• A patient and adaptable approach

• Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service or be willing to process a new application
