Job summary

Smile Education are recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a primary school in Rochdale. The school is rated good by Ofsted and has a welcoming atmosphere within the staff team.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday 8:30 to 3:30, supporting children with additional needs. Responsibilities include building independence, developing relationships with pupils and families, maintaining clear communication with the class teacher, and creating a secure learning environment.

Qualifications

• DBS check current or willingness to apply for a new one.
• Teaching assistant qualification or health and social care level 2/3.
• Experience working with SEN children on 1:1 or small groups.
• Experience with primary or secondary school children.
• At least 2 professional references covering last 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Encouraging independence within the class and with students, proactive approach.
• Develop and build relationships with children, staff and families.
• Communicate with the class teacher regarding progress and methods.
• Create a secure and positive learning environment for the child.

The SEN teaching assistant role would be working full time with children with additional needs , working Monday to Friday 8:30 to 3:30.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant

• Encouraging independence within the class and within students, being proactive
• Develop and concentrate on building a relationship with the children, staff and family members.
• Constant and consistent communication with the class teacher, regarding progress and potential methods of work.
• Create a secure and positive environment for the child to learn and feel comfortable.

Requirements

• An up-to-date DBS on the update service orthe willingness to apply for a new one.
• A teaching assistant qualification or health and social care (level 2 or 3).
• Experience working with SEN children on a 1:1 basis or small groups work.
• Experience working with Primary or secondary school children.
• At least 2 professional references covering the last 2 years of work history.
