Job summary

Smile Education are recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Rochdale. The school was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted and offers a welcoming staff environment. The role is full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 3:30, supporting children with additional needs.

Applicants should have a current DBS or be willing to apply for a new one, plus a TA qualification or health and social care level 2/3. References from the last two years are required, with a daily rate of £95-£112.

Qualifications

• Recent DBS update or willingness to apply for a new one.
• Teaching assistant qualification or health and social care (level 2 or 3) demonstrated in evidence.
• Experience working with SEN children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
• Experience with primary or secondary school children.
• Two professional references covering the last 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Encourage independence within the class and with students.
• Develop relationships with children, staff and families.
• Maintain consistent communication with the class teacher regarding progress and methods.

The SEN teaching assistant role would be working full time with children with additional, working Monday to Friday 8:30 to 3:30.

The Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant

• Encouraging independence within the class and within students, being proactive
• Develop and concentrate on building a relationship with the children, staff and family members.
• Constant and consistent communication with the class teacher, regarding progress and potential methods of work.
• Create a secure and positive environment for the child to learn and feel comfortable.

• An up-to-date DBS on the update service orthe willingness to apply for a new one.
• A teaching assistant qualification or health and social care (level 2 or 3).
• Experience working with SEN children on a 1:1 basis or small groups work.
• Experience working with Primary or secondary school children.
• At least 2 professional references covering the last 2 years of work history.
